The Sentinel Group of companies is made up of a number of Recruitment Consultancies. They specialise in the areas of IT, Engineering, Pharmaceuticals & Clinical Research.

The group ran a network consisting of a large number of servers servicing a good number of PCs with various operating systems. An initial consultation revealed that the Servers, and the complexity of the systems that they run, were creating a large number of problems for the network and their users rather than making the network useable. This was mainly down to the age of the equipment and the performance demands being forced upon the infrastructure.

The obvious solution was to consolidate the servers via the installation and configuration of one new Windows 2003 Server. This Server would be sufficient in processing power and storage capacity, whilst still expandable for future growth over a planned period. It would also allow the company to integrate thin client technology at the same time as utilizing their existing hardware base of PCs.

MTB has consolidated an inefficient network with far too many servers into a useable, reliable and effective network. In IT management time alone the Server has paid for itself.
